ARPA-H’s PROSPR Program
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) has announced the PROactive Solutions for Prolonging Resilience (PROSPR) initiative, an ambitious program designed to extend the healthspan of Americans by addressing the underlying causes of age-related health loss. By pioneering innovative interventions that target age-induced health deterioration, ARPA-H aims to revolutionize healthcare for aging populations, adding 20 years of good health to Americans’ lives. This solicitation represents a monumental step in advancing proactive health measures, laying the groundwork for a future where aging gracefully is a priority.
Overview of the Solicitation
The PROSPR program aims to address the systemic barriers to progress in healthspan therapeutics, such as long clinical trial durations and high costs, with the ultimate goal of transforming geriatric medicine into a comprehensive, preventive care model. The program is centered around three technical areas (TAs) that emphasize novel solutions for improving health outcomes:
- Intrinsic Capacity (IC) Score Development: Utilize psychological and biochemical components to create an IC score that can predict long term health outcomes. To enable consistent health monitoring and proactive health management, build a technology to measure IC at home.
- Repurposing FDA-Approved Interventions: Identify and deploy FDA-approved drugs with robust long-term safety profiles in a decentralized clinical trial.
- Second-Generation Interventions: Advance innovative preclinical interventions with demonstrated preclinical evidence to enhance lifespan.
Proposer’s Day
The PROSPR Proposer’s Day will consist of a technical overview of the PROSPR program by ARPA-H, lightning talks, and additional activities. The ARPA-H Proposer’s Day will be a hybrid single-day event on January 24, 2025. The in-person portion will be hosted in Dallas, Texas, and the virtual portion will be on Zoom. In-person attendance is limited by venue capacity, and early registration is strongly recommended. Proposer’s Day registration is required by noon on January 21, 2025.
