The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) funds bold, high-impact health innovations, from precision medicine and cancer treatment to digital health and AI-driven diagnostics.

ARPA-H invests in breakthrough technologies, platforms and solutions that can’t be achieved through traditional research or commercial models. Through Innovative Solutions Openings (ISOs), Mission Office ISOs and targeted Research Initiatives, ARPA-H provides non-dilutive funding to organizations advancing transformative healthcare solutions.

Innovative Solutions Openings (ISOs)

These are calls for “big ideas” directed by ARPA-H’s Program Managers to address critical health challenges. Examples include THRIVE, GIVE, FRONT, CATALYST, GLIDE, POSEIDON, PRECISE-AI, OCULAB, INDEX, and others.

Mission Office ISOs

These ISOs are open‐ended mechanisms for industry or researchers to propose projects on a rolling basis that fall outside the scope of existing program-specific ISOs. The current Mission Office ISOs are:

These short-term, rapid research efforts (often called “sprints”) focus on accelerating innovation in a niche or crosscutting domain. Recent research initiatives include the Women’s Health Sprint, the AI Cyber Challenge, and the Emerging Health Innovators Initiative.
