Overview
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is the U.S. Department of Defense’s premier agency for driving technological innovation and funding breakthrough capabilities to ensure national security. Known for pioneering technologies like the internet and GPS, DARPA focuses on high-risk, high-reward research that can lead to the development of critical strategic products. The Expedited Research Implementation Series (ERIS) is a DARPA initiative designed to fast-track the discovery and acquisition of disruptive technologies. Through a streamlined, video-based submission process, ERIS allows innovators from industry, academia, and beyond to pitch revolutionary ideas directly to DARPA and DoD stakeholders—unlocking new pathways for rapid prototyping, development, and transition into operational use.
What is the ERIS Marketplace?
ERIS is a digital platform where post-competition video pitches are showcased to DARPA and Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders. The marketplace is designed to identify and acquire disruptive solutions that align with DARPA’s mission of creating strategic surprise through cutting-edge research and development.
Once accepted into the ERIS Marketplace, your technology becomes accessible for procurement through Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs), streamlining the transition from concept to contract.
Why Submit?
DARPA is actively encouraging participation in this cycle of ERIS, and the benefits are clear:
- Direct Visibility: Your innovation will be reviewed by DARPA program offices and DoD stakeholders actively seeking new technologies.
- Expert Feedback: Submissions receive detailed reviews from panels of subject matter experts from government, academia, and industry.
- Fast Assessment: Submissions are reviewed within 30 days of the monthly deadline, providing a quick pathway to recognition and funding.
- Streamlined Awards: Awardable submissions are eligible for R&D, prototyping, and experimental contracts without lengthy procurement delays.
Submit a 7-Minute Video + Slides:

- Detection and tracking of elusive targets across air, land, and space
- Overcoming current sensing system limitations (SWaP-C and performance)
- Advanced antenna technologies for high performance and compact design
- Resilience and efficiency improvements for critical strategic systems
Your video should address four key areas:
- Define the problem and current state of the art
- Explain how your solution advances the field
- Highlight team expertise and readiness
- Describe the defense or commercial use case and impact
