Additional Opportunities in Medical Research by Eric Jia-Sobota

The US Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) has published a Request for Information (RFI) related to the Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program (JWMRP). This program provides additional funding for projects that were previously funded through a DoD office. The full SSN can be found here : (https://sam.gov/content/home). JWMRP considers projects in five areas of interest that are: 1) Medical Simulation and Information Sciences (MSIS), which includes combat casualty modeling and simulation for training purposes, and platforms that facilitate casualty care in forward areas near the battle zone; 2) Military Infectious Diseases Research Program (MIDRP), which includes prevention and treatment of microbial infections; 3) Military Operational Medicine Research Program (MOMRP), which includes biomedical countermeasures to prevent and mitigate injuries during training and operation;. 4) Combat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP), which includes capabilities to reduce morbidity and mortality of life-threatening battle injuries; 5) Radiation Health Effects Research Program (RHERP), which is focused on countermeasures for acute radiation injury and exposure. Details about the submission process and requirements are in the RFI but note that all research or product development efforts discussed in the RFI response must be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 or 5, and must continue work previously funded in a separate award by a DoD office. The submission deadline is 25 FEB 2021.
